Sprint Enduro and Short Track XC

Franklin County Parks and Recreation and the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce (SMLRCC) have partnered to bring you a new Waid Park Sprint Enduro and VA Short Track XC championships race scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Waid Park in Rocky Mount. Proceeds from this event benefit the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce and serves as Franklin County's contribution to a re-imagined and socially-distanced Go Fest weekend.

A beer garden with food and FREE kids bike events all day on Franklin County's new skills challenge loop are among the non-racing activities.

Proceeds from the onsite beer garden and food sales will benefit the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce. Registration includes a custom logo t-shirt and neck buff. COVID-19 measures will be implemented to ensure state guidelines are maintained throughout race day. If you are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19 please stay at home. No day of registration - You must Pre-register. (This event will be limited to 100 riders and not exceed 250 total attendance)

The day starts at 9 a.m. with a fast and furious short track cross country race on the Shinerunner trail. Jumps, berms, balance features and two really STIFF climbs pack a whole lot of action into a short event. Race distances will be short, at either 2.5 or 5 miles- but the action will be non-stop! The Short Track race is sanctioned under USAcycling, $10 one day licenses will be available to purchase online.

Categories for Short Track: Intro, Sport(Cat2) and Open(Cat1,Pro), Open Ebike

Maximum field size per class is 20 riders and masks are mandatory in the staging area. Multiple classes will have the same start times and be scored separately for maximum bar to bar action!

Our main event is the inaugural Waid Park Sprint Enduro!

Expect at least 4 stages(6 for our open racers!) utilizing the newest and most progressive features we've built in our trail network(and maybe some race-day only surprises?!). A medium travel trail bike or maybe even a beefed up XC race bike will be fastest across these stages- but be ready for rock gardens, man-made jumps and sections with fast back to back corners, and yes quite a bit of sprinting if you want to win!

Timing will be manually operated via Webscorer Pro. No USAC license is needed for this event. No waiting in line to start a stage, just drop in and go!

Enduro Categories: Intro, Open, Open Ebike

Enduro Age Groups: 12 and Under, 13-15, 16-18, 19-34, 35-44 and 45+
