presented by Blue Ridge Grotto and the Cave Conservancy Foundation

Sponsored by Blue Ridge Grotto and the Cave Conservancy Foundation, come check out an incredible mobile cave exhibit that is visiting Roanoke from Colorado! Be prepared to put on a special caving helmet, and crawl and climb through 150 feet of artificial cave passage. Watch out for the stalactites and other fragile cave objects! Try not to touch the objects because you will lose points in the computer scoring system for each object that you touch. CaveSim is NOT virtual reality, and there are no screens inside, but monitors on the outside of the cave allow parents to watch on cameras as kids explore. While you visit, you'll learn from CaveSim staff who are real cave explorers and do cave Search and Rescue. Be sure to also try vertical cave rescue on the 12-foot-tall CaveSim ropes tower. See how tight a space you can fit through in the CaveSim squeezebox. Children age 4 and under must be accompanied in the cave by a parent or very responsible older sibling. Adults are welcome to explore, but CaveSim does contain narrow passageways that adults may find very difficult. CaveSim does provide accommodations for people with disabilities.
