LEAD ACTIVITY...
Navigation Scavenger Hunt
- Friday @ 7 p.m.
- Saturday @ 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
- Sunday @ 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Description: Ages 7 and up can learn about, or test their knowledge of, orienteering. After a quick tutorial, a series of instructions using the compass will guide players to items related to pollution solutions, i.e., storm drains, within a short geographic radius of each other. Players will pick up a token from each destination to exchange for a prize at the CVC tent.
ONGOING ACTIVITIES...
1) Timed Recycling Challenge with Leaderboard - Players sort a pile of trash into the correct recycling container - plastic, aluminum, paper, and glass. Completion times on a leaderboard are the ones to beat!
2) Recycle Right - Coloring sheets with recycling rules for local municipalities remind visitors what is accepted.
3) Clean and Green Wheel Spinner - Spinner numbers 1-10 correspond to audio buttons with pre-recorded environmental questions, which adds to the fun.
4) Macroinvertebrate Matching Game - Players match macroinvertebrates used in water quality testing to their adult insects.
5) Be a Citizen Scientist - Visitors can learn about volunteering with the Roanoke River Project.
6) Swedish Dish Towel Giveaway - Visitors can own one of these highly prized, reusable dish towels. Made of cellulose and cotton, and washable, they can replace up to 17 rolls of paper towels!
